Tatmaen ("we", "our", or "the app") is a free Islamic app that helps Muslims with prayer times, Quran reading, athkar, dua, and more. Your privacy is important to us.
Data We Collect
Location Data
We use your device's location to calculate accurate prayer times and Qibla direction. Location data is processed on-device and stored locally. If you sign in, your approximate location preferences are synced to our servers for cross-device access.
Account Information
If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address. You can also use the app anonymously without providing any personal information.
App Usage Data
We store your preferences locally on your device, including: reading position, bookmarks, favorites, custom athkar, prayer settings, and notification preferences. If signed in, this data syncs to Firebase Cloud Firestore for cross-device access.
How We Use Your Data
All data collected is used solely to provide app functionality:
- Calculate prayer times based on your location
- Determine Qibla direction
- Sync your preferences across devices (if signed in)
- Send prayer time notifications (if enabled)
We do NOT use your data for advertising or tracking. We do NOT sell, share, or provide your data to any third party for their own purposes.
Analytics & Crash Reporting
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google) to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data such as which screens are visited and which features are used. This helps us understand how the app is used and improve the experience. We also collect anonymous crash reports to identify and fix technical issues.
This data is anonymous, not linked to your identity, and cannot be used to identify you personally. No personal information (name, email, location) is included in analytics or crash data.
Data Storage & Security
Local data is stored on your device using standard browser storage. Cloud data is stored securely on Google Firebase (Firestore) servers. Access is restricted to your authenticated account only.
Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services:
- Firebase Authentication & Firestore (Google) — for account management and data sync
- Firebase Analytics (Google) — for anonymous usage statistics
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google) — for anonymous crash reporting
- Firebase Remote Config (Google) — for feature management
- Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In — for authentication
- Adhan (open-source) — for prayer time calculations
Content is sourced from:
- mp3quran.net — Quran reciter audio
- quran.com — Tafsir (interpretation) data
These services have their own privacy policies.
Data Retention & Deletion
You can delete all your data at any time from Settings > Account > Delete Account. This permanently removes all cloud-stored data associated with your account. Local data can be cleared by clearing your browser data.
Children's Privacy
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the app and on this page.
